The SF2UF program is a strategic partnership between Santa Fe College (SF) and the University of Florida (UF). The program is currently funded by NIH grant 5T34GM137869-05.
SF2UF is designed to expand the pool of students who transfer from SF to UF, earn baccalaureate degrees, and pursue advanced careers in biomedical and behavioral sciences. SF2UF targets high-performing “first-generation in college” students from low-income backgrounds who demonstrate the greatest potential for innovation, excellence, and persistence in biomedical and behavioral research. Recruiting and mentoring these individuals not only sustains the nation’s global leadership in biomedical science but also strengthens our capacity to address pressing health challenges that impact the US population.
Students who are accepted into the program become SF2UF undergraduate fellows for one year. Fellows participate in programs to enhance their academic preparation and research skills and participate in intensive research experiences with UF faculty mentors.
SF2UF fellows receive a stipend of approximately $1,200 per month and a scholarship for up to 60% of their tuition plus travel support to attend one scientific conference. Fellows participate in programs to enhance their academic preparation and research skills, and participate in intensive research experiences with UF faculty mentors.
